Flipping Over Fedoras
The newsboy cap? That is so yesterday. The ultra-chic, coolest chapeau of the moment is the fedora. It happened all of a sudden, beginning with the spring fashion shows, and now it’s a must-have. They’re great for day wear as a fashion statement or maybe just to hide too-messy tresses. And they’re perfect for nightlife because they add a fabulous flourish to any ensemble.
Hat makers are tipping their own hats to the new look; they’re taking the old school fedoras and adding fresh colors, funky embellishments and ribbon detailing. They can be worn to the side, with brims partially flipped up, with brims completely down, low on the brow, or with a headscarf neatly wrapped underneath. And when selecting your fedora, be sure to take your inspiration from Katharine Hepburn, not Britney Spears.
