Linda Evangelista More Than A Year In Vogue
Linda Evangelista, 41 and pregnant, being the first model, not a Hollywood star, to be featured on the magazine’s cover in more than a year as she is on the cover of the August issue of Vogue 2006. It’s her 10th cover for the Vogue magazine and she isn’t worried about the effects of pregnancy on her supermodel figure. “I’m not freaked out at all,” she tells the Associated Press. “I embrace it. I believe I’m doing everything to go through this as smoothly as possible. I’m either doing yoga or exercising every day.”
The Canada-born catwalker Linda Evangelista never saw modeling as a means to another career and says she won’t make a “comeback” after the birth, because she’s not going anywhere to begin with. “I decided when I was 12 that it’s what I wanted to do and I count my blessings that I got to realize my dreams,” she says. “Being a rock star was out of the question. I can’t sing. I’m so glad this worked out for me, I do think I know how to be a good model. And I didn’t have a Plan B in place.”
Along with her pals from the supermodel heyday a decade ago like Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington, Evangelista was one of the original supermodels, but she left the business in 1998. (”I was having panic attacks” due to a paralyzing fear of flying, she said.) She returned to the catwalk in 2001 and now models for MAC Cosmetics.
Naomi Campbell, despite her run-ins with the law, is still queen of the catwalk at 36. Kate Moss, after a stint in drug rehab, is starring in a half-dozen designer ad campaigns this season. That includes the fall Versace campaign, which also features Christy Turlington, Angela Lindvall and Carolyn Murphy.
Photographer Patrick Demarchelier says, “Linda loves fashion. She’s a chameleon. She can change her look anytime she wants and still always look good.”
Linda Evangelista isn’t married and won’t comment on the father of her child, the baby’s father is her New York City architect boyfriend, who has not been named in the press. In the new issue of Vogue, Evangelista says she uses Botox and undergoes a treatment called Thermage to stimulates collagen.
“I’m 41, and it’s work being me,” she says in the magazine. “It’s a lot of upkeep. I’m pro-cosmetic-procedure. I use Botox and I’m not afraid to say it.”
