Victoria Beckham, wife of British soccer star David, launched her debut denim collection in New York to a crush of photographers, television cameras and journalists. Victoria’s jeans are hugely popular and are high in demand. Wearing white jeans, silver high heels, and a sparkly, silver singlet top, Beckham posed for photographers — who, a security guard said, outnumbered fans — before heading upstairs to sign autographs for about 70 fans waiting in line.
The current clothing item of choice for the celebrity bad girl seems to be a pair of denim shorts. Which of these female hell-raisers do you think looks best (or should I say least worst because they all look pretty ropey).

Pop sensation former No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani is hitting out at claims that she is simply following a trend by launching her own fashion line, instead it has been a lifelong dream. The singer begun her fashion line L.A.M.B back in 2003 and has been over the moon at being given the opportunity to design her very own quirky and cool clothes. She is delighted she has been given the opportunity to design her own clothes, she says, “I just love getting ready. Growing up I was always playing dolls and dress-up, so it’s like I’m still doing the same thing as when I was eight years old.
“Even if I didn’t have paparazzi following me, I would still be doing the same thing.”

Gwen Stefani has also made accounts of being concerned for Spears, after her recent strange behaviour; such as her shaving her hair and her rehab stint. She has revealed that she is eager to see the Britster getting her act together soon. Read more!

Actress and model, Sienna Miller is planning on launching her very own fashion label with her big designer-sister Savannah Miller. They plan to launch an 80 piece ready-to-wear fashion collection called ‘Twenty8Twelve’, based on Sienna’s birthday of December 28th, for fall 2007. Sienna clarified that she has always loved fashion, and Savannah got a first in design at Saint Martins and further thought to pursue it together, but happened organically. According to The Bosh, the notoriously private Savannah said of their new project: “People wanted us to put the line in our names, but we wanted it to be more abstract.”

She also described herself as the ‘Antichrist of fashion’ by starting her own unique fashion trend and she doesn’t care what other people may think of it.
Helena is quoted by Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper as saying: “I am so not Mrs Style. I am not Sienna Miller or whoever. I’m the Antichrist of fashion.”

This 40-year-old actress who regularly attends awards ceremonies dressed in outlandish Victorian dresses – has responded to the critics who slam her style by launching her own fashion line. To send out a defiant message to those who knock her sense of style, The line, designed by Samantha Cole, is called the Pantaloonies and will feature Victorian-style camisoles, capes and bloomers, with a modern twist. Irene Galitzine, the Russian-Italy’s “fashion princess” who created the ‘palazzo pajama’ and changed the way women dressed at home, whose gowns clothed Jacqueline Kennedy, Sophia Loren and Audrey Hepburn, died on Friday, Ansa news agency said. She was 88. The Russian aristocrat died in her sleep in her house in the Italian capital shortly before dawn, said her long-time assistant and spokeswoman Angela Savarese. The cause of death was not immediately known.

Descended from Russian nobility who fled after the 1917 revolution, the former fashion model set up shop in the 1940s, she shot to fame in 1960 when she launched a flowing silk pant outfit, quickly dubbed the ‘palazzo pajama’ by Diana Vreeland, the then influential editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar. Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has vowed she will never sing again and has laughed off reports linking her to a career in Hollywood. Instead, Posh Spice will be launching herself into her fashion career; after already designed a range of jeans for Rock & Republic and host fashion TV Show, she now wants to create and entire clothing line.
She said, “I’m done with music and I’m never going to act. That’s in the past. I was an okay singer and an okay dancer, and I had to work at it.
“Fashion is what I love. I’ve dreamed of doing my own clothing line from even before I was a Spice Girl. Now I’m able to do what I love and I’ve found I’m really good at it. Read more!

Inspired by subjects as varied as icon Mother Teresa to the sunflower and 160 buyers, 75 designers responding, India’s top designers are readying to showcase their spring-summer lines at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) that kicks off Wednesday, the first time two such shows will be hosted in a year in keeping with international practices.
We are not trying to spring surprises every time we host a fashion week,” says Rathi Vinay Jha, Director-General of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), about India’s largest fashion bonanza. “Our main aim is to enhance the business potential with each event.”

Coming close on the heels of the fall-winter edition in April, the Aug 30-Sep 3 event marks a quantum leap forward for Indian fashion as it is the first time the country will be hosting two shows a year in line with international practices. Read more!

In the latest step by department stores to team up with high-end fashion designers, mid-brow retailer Kohl’s Corp. announced Thursday a union with Vera Wang beginning in the fall of 2007, known for her $10,000 wedding gowns, to create a new fashion and lifestyle brand. The Very Vera by Vera Wang brand is licensed by a subsidiary of Vera Wang Group to Kohl’s under an exclusive long-term agreement. Terms weren’t disclosed.
Wang told reporters on a conference call that “it has troubled” her for quite a while not to be able to offer her designs to all women.
“We have been quite elitist in terms of price points,” she said.

To be known as Very Vera, items such as sportswear, intimate apparel, leather handbags, accessories, jewelry, footwear, linens and towels will be sold exclusively in all Kohl`s stores and on Kohls.com, the companies said Thursday in a statement. Read more!

During the on-camera limo ride to the launch party for the new season of Bravo’s Project Runway, radiantly pregnant supermodel Heidi Klum admits she can’t resist a bargain. She confessed: “I love flea markets because you just never know what you’re going to find. You can’t go in with an idea, you just have to wander around and wait for something to catch your eye.”
Even though she loves to shop, Klum has a strict set of guidelines as apparently hates the sight of the elastic-waisted maternity jeans so much, that she has now called on designer pal Scott Morrison to make her a customised pair of denims for each month of her pregnancy.

Hong Kong Fashion Collection Award, a highlight of Hong Kong Fashion Week held for the sixth consecutive year — one of the world’s leading fashion-industry sourcing events launched Friday.
The Award is a show-cum- contest that aiming to discover and encourage local talents clothing enterprises to start their own collections and brands. The organizer, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), said the contest will help enterprises work more with better and more marketable designs in a bid to improve overall competitiveness of local firms.

Even she is still a newborn, that doesn’t mean the 3 week old child doesn’t have any fashion sense, Angelina Jolie and her baby girl Shiloh Nouvel made her very first fashion statement after she appeared in a grey cotton T-shirt on the cover of People magazine. After the photos of Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt hit store shelves in People magazine, the hip little t-shirt that Shiloh was modeling have since been selling like hotcakes.
Shiloh Nouvel wore a ‘vintage grey cotton t-shirt’ featuring the words ‘The Pots & Pans Band’.

Baby boutiques and retailers were inundated with calls about the t-shirt in the days following the magazine’s release. Kingsley Aarons, the t-shirt’s designer, says he is stunned by the response, saying: “It just hit me how big this deal is.”
Aarons was reportedly inspired by his two-year old son, who regularly played the drums on pots and pans in his dad’s kitchen. Read more!

Jeans and certain designers aside, much high fashion is happily becoming more affordable, as most designers realize women want a bigger bang for their bucks. Tommy Hilfiger, Perry Ellis and Liz Claiborne are offering “better-priced” collections. Calvin Klein is turning heads with a mid-priced line for the first time. They’re all trying to win bank customers who like a good label, but love paying less.

In recent years, shoppers made a few big investments or headed to stores like Target or H&M. Sales or women’s clothing dropped 6.6 percent last year; midlevel apparel departments in stores took the biggest hit. “Suddenly, the industry is waking up to the fact that women who may not want to pay a lot of style,” said David Wolfe, a consultant to national retailers. When CEO and founder of Urban Golf Gear (UGG) Craig Tanner first saw Tiger Woods win an amateur golf tournament in 1997, he somehow knew golf (previously dorky) was about to become “cool.” So, he started his “athleisure” apparel brand designed to combine performance technology with urban fashion. Soon his logo – a black golfer with “dancing dreads” – was appealing to the likes of actor Samuel L. Jackson and rocker Justin Timberlake. But two out of every three now golfers are women, so to appeal to female and kids, Tanner decided “golf stuff cannot look like golf stuff.” The rest, as they say, is history: dorky has gone chic.
